Job Loss & Unemployment

The threat of job loss or unemployment can be extremely stressful. An individual’s employment can often be linked to their self-esteem and purpose in life. Unemployment not only puts great strains on individual and families financial well-being, it is also often linked to other significant issues such as family violence, depression and drug and alcohol abuse.

  • During this difficult time, it is important that we prioritize our wellbeing. Prioritizing our wellbeing can look like:

  • Talking about the situation with family and friends

  • Trying to limit alcohol and substances

  • Consider what information you are consuming and how it might be affecting you.

  • Be patient with yourself.

If you ever find yourself in this position, you are not alone and there is support.
